Ferrari 458 – The Newest Ferrari is Announced

In 1973 Ferrari introduced the first of a long line of V8 road cars. This initial model was called a Dino, after Ferrari’s late son. The Dino 308GT4 was the precursor of the newest Ferrari the 458 Italia.

Ferrari has a long history of naming car models for various features of the particular car. Sometimes it related to the cubic centimeter capacity of a single cylinder and other times to the seating capacity.

The 458 Italia derives its name both from its displacement of 4.499 liters rounded to 4.5 and its engine being a V8. The name differs a little from the last two models the 360 and 430 which both reflected a 3.6 liter and 4.3 liter engine.

This latest version is truly a masterpiece. Just examine some of its specifications. As mentioned, a 4.5 liter engine but this produces 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm, a speed that would destroy the typical car engine.

398 lbs/ft torque at 6,000 rpm. Boasting a 12.5 compression ratio this is an awesome engine that will drive the 3,042 sports car to 202 miles per hour.

“The 458 Italia is designed for owners for whom the priority is uncompromising on-road performance with occasional track day capability, but who still demand a car that is useable in day-to-day driving like all Ferrari’s recent models.” This is according to the September Pilota magazine produced by the Ferrari Owners Club.

This particular car benefits from the company’s Formula One racing experience. It is show in the technological features along with the strong emphasis of an almost symbiotic relationship between driver and car.

Some of the technological transfers include a seven speed dual clutch, which provides smooth shifts even at full throttle.

A unique feature for a V8 is three rear tailpipes. No, don’t ask me how they are connected to the engine. I have to figure this one out myself. New sportier gear ratios have been developed to match the new higher horsepower and torque curves that this beast produces.

As with past Ferrari cars, this one was designed by Pininfarina. This company surpasses itself each time with some of the most beautiful designed cars ever to grace the highway and race track. Besides the over 200 miles per hour top speed, this car moves like few cars in the world, reaching 62 miles per hour from a dead start in about 3.4 seconds. How about that for merging on a freeway! The car also boasts a new E-Diff and F1-Trac both of which result in a 32 per cent increase in longitudinal acceleration out of corners compared to the last V8, the 430.

Other noteworthy features include direct fuel injection, which is a first for the mid-rear mounted engine, along with the unique but typical flat-plane crank that has been a staple for Ferrari for many years.

Stopping distance of only 107 feet from 62 miles per hour is also a new record for this line. It is enabled by having the brake pads moved into light contact with the discs on liftoff. This a new prefill feature which minimizes delay when the brakes are again applies.

So all in all, this car represents a fantastic design, Formula One technology, amazing performance and carries on the tradition of the Ferrari company of producing some of the most desired automobiles in the world.

The Fiery Ferrari – Ferrari For Sale

If you are looking to buy a vehicle, there is no name for cars that is better known or more renowned than that of the Ferrari, so if there is a Ferrari for sale somewhere, you would really be missing out if you did not at least test drive it. However, if you are looking to purchase a Ferrari, it would be a good idea to know a little bit more about the Ferrari and the Ferrari company itself. Ever since the company began, Ferrari has made many different models of their now famous vehicles. They have participated in making Ferraris in all areas of motorsport including racing, road cars, and then finally in the super car market.
The Scuderia Ferrari is the kind of Ferrari that is used in races, and since it started racing, the Scuderia Ferrari has become not only the oldest racing car but also the most successful. The Ferraris racing have won numerous times, and many have clocked in fastest laps in certain races. Over the years, the Ferrari racecar has been a coveted vehicle by race drivers around the world as their record on the race track continued to prove that the Ferrari could compete with any racecar made.
After the success of the Ferrari racecars, there was no reason for the Ferrari Company not to try their vehicles as regular road cars. Their road cars proved to be just as successful and popular as the racecars. Actually the road cars made by Ferrari are a big part of the sales for Ferrari even today. Ferrari even started to make mid-engine cars, and then they moved to the production of the twelve cylinder in the Testarossa, possibly the most famous Ferrari.
The Ferrari had become such a coveted vehicle that the Ferrari company decided to enter the super car market. The Ferrari Company wanted to build faster, sleeker, and more advanced than the other Ferraris made for the road. These Ferraris were also considered concept cars and were often displayed in show rooms for their innovation and creativity. As part of their super car line, Ferrari started to build their vehicles as hybrids and bio-fuel cars.
Perhaps if there was anything more recognizable than the Ferrari itself, it’s the Ferrari symbol. The first part of the symbol that is noticeable is the black stallion that the maker of the first Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari, was asked to use on his cars by the Countess Paolina because she said it would bring him luck. The yellow background is symbolic of Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace, Modena, and then there are three stripes of green, white, and red to symbolize the Italian national colors.
As you can see, Ferrari has been creating high class, spectacular vehicles for years, and with the creative team the Ferrari Company has, their cars just keep getting better. The look of the Ferrari is getting sleeker, and the engine is getting more powerful. If you ever get the chance to drive a Ferrari, it will promise to be a ride you will never forget.

Three Reasons to Buy A Ferrari

Why wouldn’t a person want to consider a new or used Ferrari as their next vehicle? It’s sleek, it’s stylish, and it is, absolutely, the epitome of luxurious ride. Yet, still, with many different varieties in the luxury field today, it can be a difficult decision to choose just one. So, many are asking the question ‘What sets Ferrari apart from the rest?’ This article sets out to provide three solid reasons to take a closer look at the available models of this Italian show piece.

Get Away

If you are going to invest thousands upon thousands of dollars into a vehicle, you want to know, among other things, that the car is going to get your from point A to point B. What’s better is if it will do so in the shortest amount of time possible. After all, speed is sexy and, as demonstrated by the base model of the new Ferrari 458 Italia, the Ferrari knows all about sensuality. Even in its barest form this car can blow away the competition, reaching maximum speeds of just over two hundred miles per hour thanks to its powerful 4.5 litre V8 engine, featuring a approximate 570 horsepower. But, it’s not enough to go fast if it takes forever to get there. There are no concerns on that front when driving one of these beauties. The 458 can go from zero to sixty mph in less than three and half seconds and a mere look at the profile shows exactly why the car is able to perform so well even at the greatest speeds. It is almost triangular in appearance. One can easily see how aerodynamic the design truly is.

Get Noticed

Of course, it isn’t the speed that is going to be the first thing that one sees when walking up to a Ferrari. It is the design and that is also what is going to ensure that your new purchase receives the ‘oohs and ahhs’ that your investment deserves. From the chrome ‘prancing horse’ at the front to the boxy, yet rounded rear end, the SA Aperta, for instance, doesn’t have to make a sound to be noticed. Whether is a glossy cherry red or a flashy, stylish black, this vehicle is anything but conforming. And once inside, you are sure to be equally as pleased. With racing car inspired seats with splashes of the exterior color palette built in and a glossy black finish on the dash; no detail was overlooked by the Ferrari design engineers.

Get a Return

Unlike its competition, Ferrari has maintained the ability to build cars that look great now and continue to drive beautifully far into the future, which is why this is one of the few cars on the market that can truly be looked at as an investment. The newest models have shown, year after year, their ability to retain value. The cars depreciate very little, even as they rack up miles.

Further proof of this brand’s likelihood to act as a sound investment is the fact that classic models are now pulling in millions at auction houses around the world. Though an extreme case due to its rare existence, the 1957 Ferrari 250 GTO could sell for as much as twenty million dollars. Even those models that are not nearly as rare are establishing a reputation of appreciating assets. So not only will this purchase gain you desirable attention and the ability to outrun all others, it could also bring you a reasonable return at some point in the future.
